چکیده
In this paper we sketch out the progress of our recent work, concentrating on methodological developments and insights have gained along way. Broadly, situate ourselves in field Critical Discursive Psychology (CDP), but focus extends to study combined semiotic realms, hence describe work as Multimodal Discourse Analysis (MCDA). By outlining MCDA sharing some insight from own engagement with it, hope connect growing interest amongst qualitative psychologists, discursive psychologists particular, examine discourse beyond just text talk, offer a practical example how apply MCDA. We begin by briefly psychology CDP, before introducing an analytic method that initially developed critical linguistics. reflect combining visual textual modalities show approach can enable exploration different forms manner aligns ambitions CDP. argue MCDAs novel illustrate both need value undertaking kind (cf. The combination fosters liminal space where expand additive instead rooted holistic affordances discourse.

A Critical Visual Analysis of Gender Representation of ELT Materials from a Multimodal Perspective
This content analysis study, employing a multimodal perspective and critical visual analysis, set out to analyze gender representations in Top Notch series, one of the highly used ELT textbooks in Iran. For this purpose, six images were selected from these series and analyzed in terms of ‘representational’, ‘interactive’ and ‘compositional’ modes of meanings. The result indicated that there are...

We apply the pigeonhole principle to show that there must exist Boolean functions on 7 inputs with a multiplicative complexity of at least 7, i.e., that cannot be computed with only 6 multiplications in the Galois field with two elements.
متن کاملWhen Enough Is Not Enough
People are often exposed to more information than they can actually remember. Despite this frequent form of information overload, little is known about how much information people choose to remember. Using a novel “stop” paradigm, the current research examined whether and how people choose to stop receiving new—possibly overwhelming—information with the intent to maximize memory performance. Pa...
متن کاملWhen Granules Are not Enough in a Theory of Granularities
Several approaches have been proposed to model spatiotemporal phenomena at multiple LoDs, in particularly, under the granular computing research area, where a granularities-based model was proposed. Such model stands out from the related literature, but has two major limitations. On one hand, it has difficulties for describing regions, intervals of time, among others complex descriptions, and o...
متن کاملWhen Caches are not Enough : A Review of Data
The expanding gap between microprocessor and DRAM performance has necessitated the use of increasingly aggressive techniques designed to reduce or hide the latency of main memory accesses. Although large cache hierarchies have proven to be effective in reducing this latency for the most frequently used data, it is still not uncommon for scientific programs to spend more than half their run time...
